The Profi's anti-tartar kit contains a scaler, a pick, a gum massage tool and a mouth mirror (which cannot fog up)
One scaler is made of mild steel and the other of plastic. The material is not as strong as the tooth enamel, which means that no damage can occur to the enamel during normal use. With the use of the dental mirror and the toothpick, even the spots that are hard to see can be reached.
The rubber pick is used to massage the gums. This ensures better circulation and significantly faster healing of inflamed gums.

For optimal use of the scaler, use it the following way:
- Hold the scaler in your 'good' hand and the mirror in your other hand. It is important that you can make accurate movements with the scaler.
- Place the flat side on the tooth near the gums;
- Use the mirrors for spots that are hard to see;
- Make a gentle up or down movement on the tooth;
- After repeating this a several times the tartar has been reduced or even completely removed;
- If nesessary, rinse with mouthwash or brush the teeth to remove loose tartar residue.
It's important to use the kit no more than once a week and only use it for surfaces with sufficient space. The scaler is not suitable for use between teeht. For this you can use the supllied dental pick, which is smaller.
To prevent is, of course, better than to cure. The following measures and tools can help you minimize tartar formation and mainatin healthy teeth:
- Brush your teeth twice a day, preferably with toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulphate. This is a foaming substance that can lead to gum irritations. A good option is Oxyfresh Toothpaste.
