What do you need?
- A bowl of hot water (ideally around 60°C / 140°F)
Warning: Do not use boiling water to mold the night guard! - A fork
- A mirror
How to mold the SOVA Nightguard:
- Wash your hands and the SOVA night guard with soap and water.
- Heat the water in a pan or microwave until it reaches 60°C (140°F). The water should be hot, but not boiling.
- Place the SOVA night guard in the bowl of hot water and wait until the material becomes soft and flexible. You can check this by gently lifting it with a fork.
- Hold the softened material carefully without folding it. Make sure it doesn't stick to itself.
- Gently bite down on the center of the front part of the guard and press your tongue against the material to keep it in place.
- Look in the mirror. Use your fingers to gently press the material onto your teeth, all the way up to the gum line.
Be sure to include all teeth, including the back molars. - Close your lips around the guard and gently suck until the material hardens (do not suck too hard!). This creates the perfect fit in under a minute.
Not happy with the result? Simply place the guard back in the hot water, let it soften again, and try molding it once more.
For best results:
- Make sure the guard covers the back molars. All teeth should be included.
- Don’t overstretch the material while it’s soft.
- Never use boiling water.
